In March, the Department of Transport published Moving Together, a national demand management strategy for 2026-2030. The strategy was published following extensive consulation. The plan complements the Sustainable Mobility Policy (2022-2030) and various policies encouraging alternative fuel use and EV proliferation to implement the ‘Avoid-Shift-Improve’ paradigm layed out in the Climate Action Plan 2023 (Moving Together supports the ‘Avoid’ pillar).
The strategy was designed to encourage cross-sectoral collaboration in decarbonisation efforts and is underpinned by the principles of Just Transition, Accessibility and Inclusion, Rural Recognition, and Economic and Financial Sustainability.
