The National Household Travel Survey 2022 (NHTS 2022) is a comprehensive study of the travel patterns and behaviours of people living in Ireland. The survey was conducted by Ipsos on behalf of the National Transport Authority (NTA) between January and June 2022, and involved over 10,000 households and 25,000 individuals.

The main objectives of the NHTS 2022 were to provide updated and reliable data on the travel demand and mode choice of the population, to analyse the factors influencing travel behaviour, and to support the development and evaluation of transport policies and projects. The survey covered various aspects of travel, such as trip purpose, frequency, duration, distance, mode, time of day, car ownership, public transport usage, active travel, and attitudes towards transport.
