Challenge

The challenge/goal of the greenway is to provide a sustainable and attractive alternative mode of transport for local residents and visitors, to enhance the natural and cultural heritage of the area, to promote social inclusion and community cohesion, and to contribute to the regional and national objectives of climate action, rural development, public health, and tourism.

Solution

To develop a high-quality greenway that follows the route of the former railway line, with appropriate design standards, signage, amenities, and facilities. The greenway would also integrate with the existing road network, public transport services, and other greenways or trails in the region. The greenway would be delivered through a collaborative approach involving various stakeholders, such as local authorities, landowners, communities, businesses, and interest groups.
