The project aims to provide a safe and convenient pedestrian crossing and active travel link between the R611 Cork Road and the CETB Site, which includes a school campus. The project involves installing a footpath, altering existing footpaths and boundary fences, and installing a controlled gate.

Challenge

 To improve the safety and accessibility of pedestrians and cyclists who use the R611 Cork Road and the CETB Site, and to encourage active travel modes. 

Solution

To construct a pedestrian crossing and active travel link that connects the existing footpath along the R611 Cork Road and the recently completed pedestrian/cycle path within the school grounds. The link will be 3-4m wide and 70m long, and will have a controlled gate that will be operated by the school campus management.
