Challenge / Goal

RCC faced the challenge of designing and building a modular, durable and safe cycleway system that could withstand the varying conditions of the rivers, such as water levels, currents, waves and debris

Solution

RCC developed a patented technology that consists of prefabricated pontoons that can be assembled on site and anchored to the riverbed or the banks. The pontoons are made of recycled plastic and have solar panels on the surface to power the lighting and navigation systems. The cycle paths are wide enough to accommodate two-way traffic and have safety barriers and emergency exits. The cycle paths also have rest areas, docking stations and information points along the way.
